Zumba: My First Review

I plan on doing tons of reviews on all my favorite things and hopefully you enjoy them and find them all helpful! I wanted my first review to be on a product I started trying out Tuesday. Zumba! I've been hearing about this everywhere. People who have lost tons of weight and just love it. Well, I want to get into the best shape I can and lose weight so I decided to try it out.

I was a little worried before starting because I thought it was going to be so hard. Seeing all the ads on TV made it seem scary to try haha. The good news is...I was so wrong. Zumba is amazing! Tomorrow will be my 4th day and I'm already hooked! I lost 2lbs just from day one. It's so much fun. To begin with the box is really nice and comes with two weights that remind me of maracas when you shake them, a guide giving you all kinds of great info including the schedule, and all the DVDs labeled for your convenience.

This is the sleeve around the box...so pretty.
Zumba comes in this really nice box
You start with the first DVD which is basic steps and do this DVD for 2 days then move onto "activate" DVD. My review of the basic steps (DVD 1) is it was awesome! The two girls teaching you the steps are great and I really had fun learning. The moves are easy to understand and they really slow them down so you can catch on.  This workout was so fun that I didn't realize how long I had been dancing. The workout is 1 hour long ( I think it's actually 55 mins) but trust me you won't even realize how long you have been working out with zumba. My friend and I had so much fun learning the basic steps. We laughed at ourselves sometimes and just enjoyed dancing our hearts out.

Today, I moved on to the next DVD called "activate". I was worried it would be so hard but yet again I was wrong. It was so much fun and basically it put all the steps together in a fun way. It was more of a workout this time because lunges and moves that really worked your arms were included.

Everything that's included in the Zumba kit I have. All the DVD's, a guide, and the 1lb weights that sounds like maracas.

If I had to give Zumba 1-5 stars it would get 5! I really can't wait to keep using the system and see how much weight I lose. I will weigh myself tomorrow and see if I have lost anymore weight. I have to do the activate DVD for a few more days and then I will have to move onto the third DVD. I can't wait! I hope this review helped you and I really recommend Zumba to everyone. I wasn't really motivated to workout but after my first Zumba workout I can't wait to start the next!

There are several ways to participate in Zumba.
  1. Buy the DVD's (or just buy the complete system which includes the weights) and do the workout in the privacy of your own home or invite a friend to workout with you.
  2. Zumba has a game for the Wii! You can do Zumba on the wii now so you can go out and buy the game and have fun working out with the wii.
  3. Go to the gym for Zumba classes or where ever they hold classes in your area.
You can also get amazing gear to go along with your DVD's. If you don't have the weights you can get those. Also, there are some special Zumba shoes to make your workouts and dancing easier, really pretty bracelets, workout clothes, bags, and so much more. Check out all the cool gear you can get and buy Zumba on their website: Zumba

**** UPDATE*****

I wanted to update this post because I have moved up two levels (dvds) and lost more weight!
I recently moved up to my second week of Zumba and started the next two DVDs. "Exhilarate" and "Ripped" are the DVDs I'm now. "Exhilarate" is the full Zumba class. The one I did before it "Activate" was preparing you for the full class. I have to say Exhilarate might be my least favorite but it's still fun. The only reason it's my least favorite is because it seemed like the hardest haha. Next, I started "Ripped" I was nervous starting this one because according to the box..."Ripped" is intense and builds muscles. To my surprise it was my favorite workout. It involved the toning sticks included in the box and a chair. I have to say though, I was sore after. My back was really sore so be careful doing the chair workouts.

Other great news is I've lost 6lbs so far. I love Zumba and this just proves its working. I can really tell a difference in my muscles too. I can see where I'm starting to get definition in my legs and arms. It's amazing and I actually look forward to dancing everyday.

Be back next week with another Zumba update when I start my next week and the next DVDs!
